Here you can see the X-Y overhead mic
setup.
The X-Y setup gives perfectly accurate stereo phase and sounds just as wide
as widely spaced overheads. Of course out-of-phase overs sound the widest,
but they disappear on small system (or anything that can only play in mono).
The X-Y setup gives the widest possible sonic space without going out-of-phase.
It sounds "just right".
